FCA Pacific Member Prepares to Challenge
Land Speed Record in his Ferrari F40
Our own Amir Rosenbaum is famous! Yes,
you already knew that. After all, Amir
holds the all time record at the
Virginia City Hill Climb – 3 minutes,
10.53 seconds on the 5.2 mile, 22 turn
course along Route 341 from Silver City
to Virginia City.
But now Amir has made it onto the cover
and pages of
EuroTuner magazine; or should
I say Amir’s ’92 F40 has made it!
The 6-page spread in
EuroTuner’s February 2008
issue details Amir’s efforts to prepare
his F40 for a land speed record attempt
in the SCTA F/BGTS (2.01 to 3.0 liter
Blown Grand Touring Sports) class at the
famed Bonneville Salt Flats. The current
record (held by a twin-turbo Nissan
300ZX) is 224.458mph.
So how is Amir doing on his latest
quest? On his first attempt last year
Amir hit 216.485mph, and by the third
day he reached 217.950mph with an exit
velocity of 221.005mph. Having achieved
all he could that year, Amir retired for
the winter, and has since pumped the
engine up to 650hp in preparation for
this year’s attempt.
If you haven’t already, run out and buy
the copy of
EuroTuner with the red F40 on
the cover, or see it on-line at
